Newt Gingrich at Book Revue, Veterans Day Celebration at Senior Center

5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 9

1. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and historian William R. Forstchen will be at tonight at 7 pm, as they begin the tour for their latest book, Valley Forge. The book is a "historical recreation" of George Washington's victory over the British Army after surviving an agonizing winter at Valley Forge in 1777.

2.  has been chosen to be the official cupcake of the Long Island Ducks. They will be selling their freshly baked cupcakes at every home game that the Ducks play. Owner Amy Brady is very excited and looking forward to debuting at their home opener on May 7. They were also named official cupcake of the New York Islanders earlier this year.

3. It's Toddler Time at Book Revue. Kids can do crafts, listen to stories and sing and dance. This free event is at 11 a.m. today and every Tuesday. No registration is necessary unless you are coming with a large group.

4. "Make it Happen" at the . This special workshop gives women tips on realizing financial success, including how to handle finances, retirement and estate planning. Tonight from 7-9 p.m. Call for details 631-549-0485.

5. Veteran's Day is this Thursday, and there will be celebrations marking the occasion all week long. Today at 11:30 am, children from Oakwood Primary Center will sing patriotic songs at the town as part of the center's Veterans Day celebrations. The second grade students will also distribute cards that they have made for the participants in the town's senior programs. Call 631-351-3253 for more information.
