Jeanne Murphy spent 24 years growing up in the newsroom at Newsday before deciding it was time to leave the nest to pursue other interests. Because of her experience in the publishing industry, she first took a job as marketing director of Huntington's Village Connection magazine, and later moved up to associate publisher where she was involved in every aspect of the business, from development of editorial content, to advertising, graphic design and production. At the same time, she helped to run her husband's waterfront restaurant in Greenport where she split her time between the jobs of marketing director, hostess and occasional bartender. Now self-employed as a marketing consultant and virtual assistant, Jeanne has spent the past five years helping small businesses develop creative and affordable marketing plans as she pursues certification in Inbound Marketing.
