  • Bio: Amanda is a local editor with Patch in Half Hollow Hills, which covers Dix Hills and Melville. She grew up on Long Island and graduated from Brentwood High School. Wanting to experience city life, Amanda fled to the nation's capital to study journalism and mass communication at The George Washington University. During her studies, Amanda interned with the Peace Corps and served as the Web and multimedia editor of The GW Hatchet. She came back home after graduation and began reporting for Long Islander Newspapers in Huntington. During that time, she was awarded the "Rookie Reporter of the Year" award from the New York Press Association. Amanda's work has appeared in amNewYork,  CBSNews.com, WashingtonPost.com and NewsTrust.net. In her free time, Amanda enjoys checking out the local music scene and watching her 3-year-old nephew consistently beat her in basketball.  She also has an addiction to bad reality television.
