In Suffolk County playoff action Thursday, the Whitman boys lacrosse team fell to Smithtown East 8-7.
The Wildcats (10-7) kept it close but fell short in the end. After mounting a 5-3 haltime lead, Smithtown held off a fourth period Wildcats rally to get the win.
Leading scorers for Whitman were Evan Zakow and Mike Chimenti with two goals each. Goalie Dan Friedman had 12 saves.

Three players for Smithtown (11-6) contributed two goals each including Jimmy Tenbrink, Brian Willetts and and Vin Ferraro. Goalie Brian Barkham had 13 saves.
