Whitman girls defeated Half Hollow Hills East Wednesday in track, 76-74. It was the opening meet of League II competition for the season.

The Wildcats' coach, Rufus Shepard, cited the following as highlights:

Alyssa Scuderi winning the triple jump, Maria Jaramillo winning the 1500m walk,  Alexandra Dukes (long jump), Jackie Crunden (high jump),  Tia Murphy (shot put).

The 4 x 800m relay team of Lauren Hoffman, Kerri Diana, Tina O'Donnel and Senior captain, Fatima Saravia clinched the victory by winning the final race of the day. 

Whitman's next meet is at West Islip on April 4.
