Whitman Honors Athletes of the Month

School honors two students for outstanding play in September.

Whitman High School named two students athletes of the month for September.

Sophomore golfer John Palazzolo, who finished the season with team-best 7-2-1 record and a stroke average of 42.28, was recognized for his solid play last month and throughout the year.

“John was the most consistent player throughout the season and I found his game and play to be much improved from last season," said golf coach Alan Deitz, in a release. “His course management was sensible and well thought out.”

Whitman girls soccer goalie Samantha Myers-Dineen was honored for helping to lead the team to a 3-1 league record and a 4-2 overall. She recorded four shutouts last month and five for the season.

“She has made some great saves and keeps us in every game,” said girls soccer coach Mike Moccia. “It is comforting for both the coaches and I'm sure the entire team, that Sam is playing goal for our team.”
