"She was brilliant out there," said St. Anthony's Coach Corinne Lomangino of Heagerty's performance. "But it was a team effort as we were able to pull through in the second half for a big win in a great game."

Heroes: Heagerty helped to break the game open with a late goal to end the first half and an early goal in the second to give the Friars a 10-7 lead. Sacred Heart was not able to even the score after that point. Senior Darcy Messina also had a great game for the Friars scoring 4 goals with 1 assist. Junior Maggie Bill was named game MVP for her performance which included scoring four goals for the Friars.

Turning Point: The first half was a back and forth affair as one team would score a goal and than the other would follow suit. There were multiple ties in the first half before Messina and Heagerty scored two late goals to give the Friars a 9-7 lead at halftime. St Anthony's would never look back scoring multiple goals to start the second for a commanding 14-9 lead. Sacred Heart fought for their life but was not able to overcome the deficit.

Quotable: "It was a tight game for awhile there in the first half," Lomangino said. "But our girls really stepped it up in the second half and we were able to come back and pull out a win."

Bottom Line: Heagerty, Messina and Bill were the difference makers in this game scoring the goals that would put the Friars ahead and stretch their lead in the second half. They were a triple threat and offensive juggernauts giving St anthony's their fifth straight CHSAA title.

Key Stat: Heagerty's late first half goal and early goal to start the second helped put the game out of reach for St. Anthony's.
