NCAA Lacrosse: Huntington Athletes Abound

Locals will be well represented when NCAA men's and women's lacrosse tournaments kick off.

From Delaware and Hofstra to Cornell and Adelphi, Huntington will be well represented in the NCAA men’s and women’s lacrosse playoffs. Brackets were unveiled Sunday night and several locals will get the chance to play on the big stage of the NCAA playoffs.

No name is bigger than defending national champion Duke and senior attack . But the former Huntington High School standout is just one of 12 area players who will compete in the Division I men’s bracket alone.

In all, Huntington can boast 25 men’s and women’s lacrosse players – 16 from St. Anthony’s – at the D-I to D-III level playing in the NCAAs this month.

Division I Men's

  • Cornell: Steve Mock (Huntington).
  • Delaware: John Mills (Whitman), Dan Mills (Whitman).
  • Duke: Zach Howell (Huntington), Jimmy O'Neill (Huntington/Chaminade).
  • Hofstra: John Antonaides (St. Anthony's), Ryan McDonagh (St. Anthony's).
  • Penn: Will Koshansky (St. Anthony's).
  • Siena: Colin Clive (St. Anthony's), Chris Carberry (St. Anthony's), Kenny Carpenter (St. Anthony's).
  • Virginia: Rhamel Bratton (Huntington).

Division II Men's

  • Adelphi: Adian Bennardo (St. Anthony's).

Division III Men's

  • Denison: Gregg Shannon (St. Anthony's).
  • Gettysburg: Chris Fumai (St. Anthony's), Ryan Fumai (St. Anthony's).
  • Stevenson: Mark Salerno (Huntington).
  • Widener: Nicholas Wolber (Huntington).

Division I Women's

  • Boston College: Claire Blohm (St. Anthony's).
  • Northwestern: Jessica Russo (St. Anthony's). 

Division II Women's

  • Adelphi: Kristin Jones (St. Anthony's). 

Division III Women's

  • Stevenson Tech: Lindsay Daly (St. Anthony's).
  • Catholic: Meaghan Brady (St. Anthony's), Caroline Scalamandre (St. Anthony's).
