Live TV For St. Anthony's Football Opener

MSG Varsity will broadcast the opener between New Jersey power Bergen Catholic and St. Anthony's.

The season opener between football and was already shaping up to the biggest in school history. Now it's taking on even more prominence.

MSG Varsity announced Tuesday it will broadcast the game live.

“We are thrilled to be featuring what should be one of the most exciting matchups of the fall season in the premiere of this year’s Friday Night Football,” said Michael Lardner, Executive Producer and Senior Vice President, MSG Varsity. “Bergen Catholic and St. Anthony’s are both great teams to watch.”

The game – Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in South Huntington – gives new meaning to Friday Night Lights. The storylines are epic. Consider:

  • Friars Coach  goes for his 212th win to break a tie with former Bellport icon Joe Cipp Jr. as the winningest coach in Suffolk history.
  • The Friars look to extend their school-record 29-game winning streak, the second-longest in Suffolk football history.
  • Bergen Catholic enters 2012 as MaxPrep's preseason No. 17 team nationally.

The Friars face a as they look to win their fourth straight CHSFL title. It begins here for all the world – the tri-state, at least – to see.
