Girls lax trounces Mt. Sinai, while the boys lose to East Hampton. Smoller takes

Emma Hayes-Hurley scored five goals and added three assists to pace the Huntington High School girl's lacrosse team in an exciting 16-10 victory over visiting Mount Sinai.

The Blue Devils played very well throughout the contest. Huntington held a slim 8-6 halftime lead before outscoring the Mustangs in the second frame, 8-4.

The high-powered Blue Devil offense received support from Danielle Catanese (three goals, one assist), Sarah Ehrman (2g, 3a), Emilie Pugliese (2g, 3a), Allison Thompson (2g, 2a) and Hannah Burnett (2g, 1a).

Karly Kocis recorded eight saves in goal.

Greenhill Scores Three Goals
Ryan Greenhill scored three goals and Will Coffey added a pair of goals and an assist, but it wasn't enough to prevent Shoreham-Wading River from topping the Huntington boys' lacrosse team, 14-8.

The Blue Devils played an aggressive first half, keeping the score close at 7-6. But, SWR outscored the Blue Devils over the second half, 7-2 to put the game on ice.

Nick Saputo tallied two goals and an assist. Dan Plant also scored a goal and Jack Dever and Jack Castelli each contributed an assist, respectively. Huntington goalies Andrew Sheerin (13 saves) and John McGrath (two saves) combined to stop 15 shots.

Max Smoller to the Rescue
Following a tough 4-3 loss at Hauppauge, the Huntington boys' tennis team needed a lift and got just that from senior Max Smoller, who looked awfully impressive winning in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0 to help the Blue Devils edge Kings Park, 5-2 and even their league record at 3-3.

Huntington's heart was broken two days earlier at Hauppauge when junior Cole Peters dropped a hard fought battle at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

No Stopping Pugliese and Thompson
There simply was no stopping Emilie Pugliese and Allison Thompson who each had four goals and four assists to help lift the Huntington girls' lacrosse team past John Glenn, 19-8 before a supportive crowd at Blue Devil Stadium.

Huntington opened an insurmountable 13-2 lead by halftime. Pugliese and Thompson weren't the only Blue Devils on a scoring rampage. Hannah Burnett scored three goals and an assist. Michaela Brown also notched three goals. Emma Hayes-Hurley (2g, 3a), Danielle Catanese (2g) and Sarah Ehrman (1g, 3a) also had a big afternoon.

Karly Kocis made eight saves in goal before making was for Samantha Mohr, who stopped a pair of shots.

Huntington Loses Marathon
The Huntington boys' lacrosse team lost a marathon game to East Hampton, 15-10 after lightning interrupted the contest and forced the Blue Devils to travel east on back-to-back days.

Huntington fell behind early, trailing 6-2 after one quarter and 9-4 at halftime. A third quarter rally brought the Blue Devils closer at 11-8, but East Hampton held on for the victory.

Huntington's offense was produced by Jack Dever (3g, 1a), Nick Saputo (2g), Duncan Murchison (2g), Jack Castelli (1g, 2a), Tyre Brown (1g, 2a), Ryan Greenhill (1g, 1a), Matt Whitney (1a) and Nick Schoen (1a).

Andrew Sheerin recorded 10 saves in goal for the Blue Devils.
