Blue Devils Athletics Supporters Rally for March Madness

Supporters of the Blue Devil athletic program rallied Sunday, March 6. A crowd of about 65 turned out for the Huntington Booster Club's March Madness fundraiser at Christopher's Courtyard Café in Huntington village. The group celebrated past success stories and raised much needed funds to support future initiatives aimed at giving a boost to teams.
 
The event drew former and current coaches, alumni, parents, school trustees and administrators and an assortment of other Blue Devil supporters. For three hours, people streamed in and out of the restaurant and kept the establishment crowded.
 
The Booster Club has contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the district in recent years. The festive party at Christopher's featured a number of hot dishes and brought good friends together.

"We had a nice turn-out and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves," Huntington Booster Club President Barbara Cutrone said late in the day.
 
The mood was upbeat throughout the event. After essentially dissolving following a period of relative inactivity, the Booster Club has been revived and has played an increasingly large role in promoting athletic excellence across grades 7-12.
 
In addition to Mrs. Cutrone, this year's slate of officers includes Bill Hughes (vice-president), Barbara Napolitano (treasurer), Jodi Biernacki (recording secretary), Christina Plant (Finley rep), Christine Beck (corresponding secretary), Carol Scully (fundraising coordinator), Steve Thompson (alumni coordinator) and Tim Pillion (high school rep).
 
Club members have been a visible presence at athletic games, selling food and refreshments as a service to fans and as a means of raising funds. To continue its mission, the group is hoping to attract others who would like to pitch in and help.
