Whitman Gears Up for St. Baldrick's

South Huntington schools are closing in on a shave.

Students, staff and others are preparing for St. Baldrick's Day, an event to raise funds to fight childhood cancer.

Sponsors donate to participants willing to have their heads shaved in the March 19 fundraiser. The event, which starts at 3 p.m., is sponsored by the Whitman robotics club this year.

“To do this we need everyone's help,” said Jaime Rogers, Walt Whitman science teacher and robotics adviser. “This year we are challenging the community to Step Up...Be Brave, Raise Money and Shave. We are encouraging sport teams, clubs, different departments within the district, the different school buildings, and community members to form teams to raise money and shave together.  Lets see which team raises the most money.”
