Just what does this guy know about education? Did he ever teach? Was he ever involved in a public education budget process? All we know about him is he created a charter school in Massachucetts and worked at some place called the Uncommon School. Can the public ask questions or will he be shielded from the taxpayers? I don't want to use the term affirmative action but......

Of all the ridiculous, ignorant comments that get posted on The Patch, Ron, your comment takes top prize!

Aside from his last remark I happen to agree with everything else he said.Honestly CC research this guy and it makes one wonder what qualifies this 'kid' to lead the NYSED?
Free 2B Me September 19, 2012 at 09:53 AM
.. He is a former high school teacher and middle school prinicipal. He also has degrees from Harvard, Yale (Law), and Columbia (Masters in Teaching). I agree with CC... his comments are below this one. Also, I am Free 2B... me. .

Concerned... When did you become the judge and jury of comments on the Patch?
Dad of Three September 19, 2012 at 03:50 PM
For Long Islander, since when do you have the right to deny the rights of others to question the comments of a third Patch poster? You are doing no more, or less, than Concerned Citizen, yet you are attacking him/her for that. Besides, it is obvious from the information which Free 2 Be Me has added that the initial poster, Ron, was either LAZY (by not checking readily available sources before gratuitously asking "Just what does this guy know about education? Did he ever teach? Was he ever involved in a public education budget process?"), or incredibly IGNORANT (that he would not have known how to obtain useful information from public sources), or willfully DECEPTIVE by trying to create doubt about someone's credentials without actually and overtly denying his credentials). It suggests that Ron might be a shill for education dinosaurs who resist ANY effective changes in New York (Hmmm, who might that group be?). As for Ron's final deeply insulting remark (and not only to non-whites in America, but also to whites like me who know it is just another excuse from the entrenched "I've-got-mine-so-too-bad" forces), I regard Bill L's " Aside from his last remark" comment as insufficient, unless Bill L thinks that kind of tactic is acceptable in America. No, it deserves condemnation as unacceptable for the past forty-eight years, and morally unacceptable before that.

Dear Daddy of Three, Concerned or Whatever You Call Yourself Today, You seem content on ridiculing those that make comments, myself included, instead of commenting about the issue at hand! Just wanted to know where you received the position of Judge and Jury.
Dad of Three September 19, 2012 at 08:08 PM
How typical, Long Islander. You (1) ignore the substance of the qualifications of the State Education Commissioner, which was the Free 2 Be Me objective answer to Ron's anti-SED rant, and instead (2) you just try to muck up everything with counter-accusations, and then (3) you have the cojones to use evading tactics with your "...instead of commenting about the issue at hand!" Congratulations on achieving The Twelfth Level of Disingenuous Cynicism. I do not ridicule honest disagreements based upon facts. I do ridicule those who take the equivalent route of metaphorically throwing live grenades into tents, rather than honestly dealing with reality. If you want to question methods of the SED Commissioner, in specifics, then have the decency to do so, sir. But if you and your friends are simply going to play games of denigration with Commissioner King, then I am not going to let your collective tactics go unchallenged. By the way, how do you feel about Ron's ending line, "I don't want to use the term affirmative action but......"? I noticed that you didn't address that point. Punto Final.

Truth is, I really didn't have a big interest in this story. Just the negative comment by C
