Inventor to demonstrate skills of $1-million man.

The Bionic Man is on his way to Dix Hills.

Half Hollow Hills High School East will host the creation and inventor, Rich Walker, managing director of Shadow Robot. Joining Rex the Bionic Man and Walker will be social psychologist Dr. Bertolt Meyer, who served as the model for Rex's head.

The visit is a project by Smithsonian Channel, Cablevision and the School-Business Partnerships of Long Island.

Those attending will be able to participate in an question and answer session with Walker, see Rex in action, and get an advance look at the documentary, The Incredible Bionic Man, which will premiere on The Smithsonian Channel on Oct. 20 at 9 p.m.

To attend Wednesday's program, RSVP at powertolearn.com/bionicman

Local high school students can also enter The Incredible Bionic Man Challenge and create a bionic body part for a chance to win a trip to the Smithsonian Institution Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., and $5,000 for college. Two contest entrants attending school in Cablevision’s service area will be selected as finalists.

The contest runs through Nov. 7.
