Tell Us: Is Your Street Clear of Snow?

Many roads are passable while others remain tough to navigate.

Plowing, sanding and sunshine are clearing many streets in Huntington of the snow and ice left by the weekend blizzard.

A short tour Tuesday at midday showed that many streets that were extremely difficult to navigate on Monday are now clear or nearly clear.

But not all streets are in good shape; many have large ruts and packed snow. Some have barely one lane for passing cars.

How is your street doing? Please tell us in the comments.

Many of the side streets in the village were not plowed well. In fact Fairmount at rhe corner of NY ave, has a huge pile from NY Ave's plowing blocking the right lane, so that you have to get on the wrong side to exit onto NY Ave. I've lived here 22 years, and on a couple occassions, we had tis much or more snow...I've NEVER seen such bad plowing. I suspect we are not being told the truth about things. Is this a ploy to ask for more of our taxpayer's dollars to be allocated to plowing? I would not be surprised.

These side streets are where our kids' bus stops are BTW... these busses slip around so much, and are not designed for driving on such poorly plowed roads. This lack of attention has put our children at risk, as busses are back on the roads.

Huntington has had major snow in years past and never has the snow removal and plowing been as bad as this! Should not be a budget issue as we didn't use the snow money allocated last year! Who is responsible for this? Is everyone at Town Hall going to finger point, blame each other or make excuses? Oh wait...that's what they do! Take responsibility someone, and fix this!!!

Apparently the town doesn't factor in drifting snow, either. There should have been snow fence put up around places like Breezy Park to help keep all the hard work to clear the road from being covered up again by blowing snow. I remember when that entire area was a farm and every winter the snow fence went up. Sorry if it isn't pretty to look at, but neither is getting stuck in the snow a lovely sight.

We have been clear since the get go, at least one lane's width. No garbage pick up, though.

I've never seen such lousy response to a snow storm in HS. Usually they are plowing straight through, sometimes 2 or 3 times on the same street. I'm sure no one will admit it, but I think the fact that it was a Friday, they held off plowing thinking that they would have all weekend to do it.I live on a small through street of 6 houses in HS and by Sunday morning, no plow. We all got together and hired a plow operator at our own expense to clear our street of snow.
