If you have phone service, have any of you contacted the town to report these? I'm curious about the response.

Catalpa Drive, East Northport - tree down across the street since Monday tangled in wires. Probably one of the reasons still no power in neighborhood.

Power out and tree down at Longfellow Dr. and Shelley Pl. Behind the new Best Yet Market off Jericho Turnpike. Best Market has been great!

2 telephone poles compromised and bending in the rear of Northport Village Parking Lot, Center Lot, next to first National Bank and across from Pet Port. According to a Verizon worker they may be Verizon or Optimum poles but are likely LIPA poles(he was unable to get onto the poles for safety concerns). I contacted Npt Village, they say these are LIPA poles. THESE POLES CAN FALL ON PEOPLE AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK ON THEM!!!! I did report this to LIPA on 11.2.12 at 10:30 AM.

i am hearing a common thread that the trees they asked to take down were not dead so they would not, now they are on top of houses and cars thank God not peoplle..these are very very old trees.. hollow in many cases waiting to fall.. and if this is the future something has to give!! keep sending locations God bless everyone, stay strong.. try to be patient.. very concerned about stress and depression..remember,, the kids are watching our faces.. school will be soo helpful for all..if they can get into them and have heat..lets be positive!!

hi JH..i got that BS from lilco and verizon for two weeks before any hurricane.. they keep passing the buck... dangling four feet above the ground that is live..was in front of my house, called and called..at that time the old"squeaky" wheel move finally worked..made a pest of myself..that would not work now..but it is beyond comprehension.. put life and limb at risk..if Cuomo can sign a decree to give free rides into city or forgive deductibles.. these damn companies can get clearance ..like the CIA and FBI at the time of 9/11..i hear your frustration and share it ..God bless.. stay safe..

Dogwood Rd and DIck Ct in Northport Village, trees down, no activity.

Westcliff Drive, Dix Hills, between Half Hollow Road and Knell Lane. The street is blocked by two large trees, plus the utility pole and electrical wires they brought down. Westcliff is one block from the Half Hollow Hills School District transportation center on Burrs Lane and it's the starting point of many HHH school bus routes. Hoping that this and other street blockages will be addressed so that our kids can get back to school!

We've just checked and the number to contact the town about trees is correct: 271-6573.

Derby off Little Plains Rd. and surrounding streets. Huge trees blocking many side streets as well as downed and dangling wires.

Loss of power an inconvenience-- loss of life devastating. Stay safe, drive politely and carefully!

Pam, I called them yesterday. It took awhile to get through because they are so inundated with calls but the young lady I spoke to was very professional and pleasant. She took all my information and wished me good luck with my recovering from the storm. The crew showed up this morning and did an AMAZING job on our 'war-zone' street. They were courteous, professional and worked tirelessly to get as much of it cleared up as they could. My thanks to them! And to that nice young lady at the town!
Adele Sondermann November 02, 2012 at 06:09 PM
Pam, If that's Dix Hills Rd by Glenwood La, I think it may be one of the ones the town crew cleared this morning.

Same issue for Maplewood Rd. in Huntington Station right down the street from JOE DUJMIC house. Wish they would hurry up and get these trees and wires cleaned up ASAP
Shelley November 02, 2012 at 06:36 PM

Jake Case November 02, 2012 at 08:02 PM
Partially uprooted tree on Redwood Dr. in Dix Hills between house # 30 and #32. If it falls it blocks the whole street and takes power lines with it. Not obvious with a drive-by so tree trimming crew might miss it.
Hope Pagano November 03, 2012 at 12:35 PM
Old Chester Hills like a war zone! The poles here are so rotted they snapped on their own during the storm. If LIPA and the town are insistent on having power lines above ground then the least the can do is maintain them. If a house goes on fire in the bunker hill section we are screwed. An emergency vehicle could get in here even if they wanted to. The town won't touch the trees and poles and lipa is no where to be found, and these same folks who can't get their stuff together are still campaigning for votes! The nerve.

Tree uprooted on Radcliff Drive between Brookside Drive and Hadland Drive in Huntington Village fell across two lawns with a remaining branches hanging a second tree.
resident November 04, 2012 at 06:33 PM
Maplewood drive in Npt still completely untouched. School starts tomorrow and this is a primary route for the high school. Trees blocking whole lanes, wires down all over, transformer in street. Repeated calls to town and LIPA with zero response other than standard line "by nov 10-11."
Marie November 04, 2012 at 07:57 PM
Verizon replacing phone poles everywhere (heard they own the poles). LIPA still nowhere to be found. No one from LIPA coordinating with tree removers to disable live wires. Thank you Governor Cuomo for doing an outstanding job! Thanks Frank Petrone for keeping us informed and trying to push the utilities to do what they SHOULD be doing without any prodding.

I have a town tree(silver maple) that fell on the house, 3 diane lane east northport onMonday. I have tried all week to call the number above but it's been busy. I'm sure this will take some time until it can be removed.
