Does the sour economy have you nostalgic for yesteryear?
Take your wallet on a trip down memory lane Friday at Dix Hills Park for the Town of Huntington's "Turn Back the Clock Day" when the golf course, pool and concession stand will be set back to 1960s prices.
At the golf course, greens fees will be $2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pull carts will be 50 cents. Signup for tee-off begins at 9 a.m.; the last foursome for the day will be released at 6 p.m. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a clinic for children at the driving range, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., a manufacturers’ wedge demo day for adults.
Other activities at the course will include a BMW Hole in One contest sponsored by Habberstad BMW, a Land on the Green contest and a Beat the Pro hole.
Activities in the area around the Town pool will begin at 11 a.m. and run to 8 p.m. Admission to the pool will be 50 cents. The parking lot in front of the pool will feature free bouncy houses, free pony rides, carnival games and the Dix Hills Fire Department’s antique fire truck.
At the ice rink, which will be open from noon to 8 p.m., admission and skate rental will each be 50 cents. The New York Islanders will be bringing their Ice tour exhibit.
The concession stands at both the pool and ice rink will feature a $1 menu.
Parking for the event will be at the Forest Park Elementary School, 30 DeForest Road, Dix Hills, and the Commack Middle School, 700 Vanderbilt Parkway, Commack. Town HART buses will bring people from there to the park, was well as provide transportation with the park’s borders.
