Which race will impact Huntington the most?

With election day less than two weeks away, the candidates have been out debating the issues and explaining their positions throughout town.

Five candidates are running for two Town Board spots. Two incumbent Democrats, Susan Berland and Glenda Jackson, are in a against Independence Party member Eugene Cook (endorsed by the Republicans) and moderate Republican Herb Morrow, plus write-in candidate Peter Nichols. If Jackson or Berland lose, the dynamic of the Town Board will change slightly. If they both are defeated, a Dmocrats could lose their majority.

With Jon Cooper's 18th District seat up for grabs in the Suffolk County Legislature, has big shoes to fill if elected as Huntington will lose the senior leadership Cooper brings to the table as a six-term lawmaker and majority leader.

Another seat up for grabs is that of county executive, with Republican Angie Carpenter and Democrat Steve Bellone vying for that spot.
