Civil Jobs Alerts Available by E-Mail

D'Amaro says information includes civil service exams, job openings and more.

Suffolk County Legislator Lou D'Amaro (D-17th) says residents can receive information about civil service exams and available positions through e-mail.

The new program, administered through the Suffolk County Department of Human Resources and Civil Service, provides information on positions available locally and across the country.

Residents can sign up for alerts. In addition to receiving information about exam notifications, users may also sign up to receive e-updates in other areas of interest, including transportation, jobs and housing.

Suffolk County administers competitive exams for job titles in more than 241 jurisdictions including the county, its 10 towns and the multitude of villages, school districts and fire, water and library special districts.  In past years, up to 300 exams were administered for these jurisdictions, which collectively employ almost 50,000 individuals.

"The new e-update notification program is another way for individuals to enhance their job searches, and I urge everyone to sign up for the great free service," the Huntington legislator said.
