Black Nominated for Cooper Seat

School board trustee will square off against Spencer in 18th District.

Elizabeth Black was nominated Wednesday night by Suffolk County Republicans as their candidate for the 18th Legislative District.

The member will face off against the Democrat, Dr. William R. Spencer,  in the November election.

“There’s a lot of work ahead. I have a lot of volunteers who been helping me to get to this point,” Black said.

“I’ve knocked on several hundred doors to talk about issues, to hear people’s concerns. I’ve been enjoying getting to know the different areas of the district. There’s a lot of work to be done getting out there.”

Black and Spencer are contending to fill the seat that will be vacated by Suffolk County Legislative Majority Leader Jon Cooper. The Lloyd Harbor Democrat is term limited.
