Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County
Police Second Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and
locate the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a
pedestrian in Huntington Station earlier this month.
Richard Wright, 31, of Huntington, was crossing Jericho Turnpike, west of Manor Road, when he was struck by a vehicle about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 4. The vehicle is believed to have been heading east on Jericho Turnpike and was a green metallic color.
Wright was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in serious condition with head injuries and broken bones.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
It was the second serious hit-and-run accident that day. About 3 a.m., a man was killed by a driver who fled the scene of the accident on New York Avenue near East 12th Street. That case remains unsolved.
