Reward Offered in Jericho Turnpike Hit-and-Run

Man was struck while crossing Jericho Turnpike near Manor Road.

Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Huntington Station earlier this month. 

Richard Wright, 31, of Huntington, was crossing Jericho Turnpike, west of Manor Road, when he was struck by a vehicle about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 4. The vehicle is believed to have been heading east on Jericho Turnpike and was a green metallic color. 

Wright was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in serious condition with head injuries and broken bones.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

It was the second serious hit-and-run accident that day. About 3 a.m., a man was killed by a driver who fled the scene of the accident on New York Avenue near East 12th Street. That case remains unsolved.
