Recent String of Vandalism Reported in Parks

Police searching for suspects, offering reward leading to arrest.

Throughout the month of October, vandals have damaged a number of area parks causing police to step up their search for the perpetrators.

A large rock was used to damage property in the men’s bathroom at Heckscher Park on Oct. 14. One day later, similar damage was done to the men’s bathroom at Mill Dam Park in Halesite. Then, on the evening of Oct. 24, the men’s and women’s bathrooms at Wolf Hill Park were found to be damaged and graffiti was found in the platground area. On Oct. 29 four sinks and toilets in the women’s restroom in Heckscher Park.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward of up to $5000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, or text SCPD and your message to CRIMES. All calls will be kept confidential.
