Suffolk County police said Nelson Vasquez, 46, was struck by a Toyota Scion southbound on New Your Avenue near East 12th Street. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad took him to Huntington Hospital.

The driver of the Scion, George Schulman, 65, of Malverne remained at the scene and was not injured. The Toyota was impounded for a safety check.

NY Avenue has become very dangerous over the years. People driving to fast, pedestrian's crossing in between cars, it is not safe. Sorry to read about this pedestrian, hope he is doing better.
