What a shame, hope and change just not happening!

I also heard the helicopter last night. Every time I hear it I think "who are they looking for now?" So scary.

Im on west 19th. Pulling out for work this morning I saw the crime scene. I try to remain positive. In spite of this most recent shooting, my area of the station has been exceptionally pleasant. Our block is always bustling with families and daily life. The kick start saloon creates a few minor issues, but what bar doesn't - I mean, look at the village! In my daily travels cutting thru different neighborhoods on my way home, I pass by lower income areas and see that people are fixing up their homes in sections that have been notoriously unappealing. Little by little I think its getting better here. And no im not crazy- Just a home owner on a block that takes pride in the station. Also, I grew up on east 10th st. With crack viles and needles at the bustop- I innocently brought one in to school to show the teacher once. I drive down that block from time to time and reminisce and realize that it looks a hell of alot better than when I lived there in '88.

We were having a pretty good summer here until this happened. It may be gang related but I would like to wait until the facts come out til I make any judgements. The Pawn Shop is over a mile away, I don't know what that has to with it. All over my neighborhood I see hard working people, trying to fix up their houses and provide for their children so it is a shame that the few criminals ruin our reputation.

In '57 folks here were so nice. On "Hell Night" I was dripping with syrup and asked to use a phone explaining I was a fraternity pledge from West Hempstead dropped off at Huntington Station. Returned home safe and sound.
