Man Seriously Injured in Hit and Run

Victim dragged 500 feet after being struck on Jericho Turnpike.

Police say a motor vehicle crash seriously injured an unidentified man Monday night in Huntington Station.

The victim was walking in the westbound lane of Jericho Turnpike at 10:36 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle in front of the 7-Eleven Store at the corner of Route 25 and Thorney Avenue, according to police.

The victim was dragged for about 500 feet before being dislodged from the vehicle in front of the Walt Whitman Motor Lodge, according to police. The driver of the vehicle left the scene.

The victim was transported to Huntington Hospital where he is in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.

Police are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 631-854-8252 or 1-800-220-TIPS with information. All calls will be kept confidential, according to police.
