Man Faces Charges in 2-Car Crash

Police say Huntington Station resident was impaired by drugs.

A Huntington Station man was charged  Thursday with driving while ability impaired by drugs after he was involved in a crash that seriously injured his passenger. 

Calvin Felder was driving a 1999 Cadillac west on Long Island Avenue in Deer Park at 1:35 a.m. when his vehicle crashed with a 2001 GMC, driven by William Keyser, 39, who was traveling south on Deer Park Avenue.

Felder, 22, of Huntington Station, was treated at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and released. Felder’s passenger, Mark Smith, 22, of Huntington Station, was taken by Deer Park Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was listed in critical condition. Keyser was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and released.

Third Squad detectives charged Felder with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer.  He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip.
