Huntington Station Woman Arrested for DWI in East Hills

A Huntington Station Woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated in East Hills Sunday night, authorities said. 

Nassau County's Highway Patrol responded to a single car accident that occurred on eastbound on the Long Island Expressway at exit 39 in East Hills at 10:02 p.m. in East Hills. Police say Genese M. Smith, 33 of 58 W. 19th Street, lost control of a 2007 Nissan and struck the wall of the ramp as she attempted to exit the expressway.

A male passenger, 27, suffered an injury to his shoulder and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Smith did not report any injuries, according to police.

She was placed under arrest, police said. A subsequent breath test that revealed a blood alcohol content reading of .19 percent. 

The vehicle was impounded at the scene.

Smith is charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated. 

She it to arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
