Teen Arrested in Slaying of Huntington Station Man

Geremias Caceres, 38, of 81 10th Ave., was walking home with another male when he was approached by three men and shot Sunday, January 24. Now, an 18-year-old has been arrested.

Suffolk County Police have arrested Gni Brown, 18, of 47A 9th Ave., Huntington Station, in the murder of Geremias Caceres, who was shot to death on January 24 in Huntington Station.

Homicide detectives have charged Brown with second-degree murder, accusing Brown of being one of the participants who attempted to rob Caceres. Brown was arraigned Tuesday, January 25 at First District Court in Central Islip. His next appearance is scheduled for February 24.

He has retained defense attorney Bruce Ruistacher.

The Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad is investigating the death of a Huntington Station man who was shot to death last night.

Second Precinct police officers responded to a call of a man shot near his home on 10th Street in Huntington Station at 9:53 p.m. Geremias Caceres, 38, of 81 10th Ave., was walking home with another male when he was approached by three men and shot. Caceres was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It appears the victim was being robbed when he was shot. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
