Huntington Station Man Drowns While Fishing

The tide came in and trapped him on a sandbar.

Police are investigating the drowning death of a Huntington Station man who was fishing on a sandbar off of Crab Meadow Beach, a Town of Huntington beach in Northport.

Daniel Arnold, 64, of Peartree Lane was fishing on a sandbar off at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 5 when the tide came in and trapped him on the sandbar. Arnold subsequently went under water and had to be pulled from the water by a witness.

Arnold was airlifted by Suffolk County Police helicopter to the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
