Fire Rips Through Huntington Businesses
New York Avenue commercial building engulfed in flames Saturday night.
A fast-moving fire devastated a row of businesses in Huntington Village Saturday night.
Multiple sources told Patch the blaze started at the two-story commercial building located at 425 New York Avenue, just south of Red restaurant shortly before 7 p.m. A photo from the scene shows the initial flames pouring out of a second floor window of a law office.
The fire quickly spread to the other businesses housed in the building–the Village Artist Fine Arts Center, another law office, a nail salon/spa and the Huntington Yoga & Wellness Studio.
The blaze, which took several hours to bring under control, drew a response from more than a half dozen fire departments, including Huntington, Huntington Manor, Halesite, Melville, Centerport, Cold Spring Harbor, Greenlawn and Syosset.
One police officer fell and suffered minor injuries and was transported to Huntington Hospital to receive stitches, police said. There have been no reports of any other injuries.
