Cops: Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Car in Dix Hills

A pedestrian was killed after she was struck by a motor vehicle while crossing a Dix Hills road early Wednesday morning, authorities said. 

Suffolk County police said William Ackerman, 48, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse heading north on East Deer Park Road when his vehicle struck a woman who was walking across the road in a westbound direction at 12:13 a.m.

Felicia Romero, 42, of Brentwood was transported by Dix Hills Rescue to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Ackerman, of Northport, was not injured, police said.

There were no reported arrests, and the vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
