UPDATE: 85-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash

The incident occurred on Route 110 in Melville, police say.

Suffolk police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Melville Friday at 8:50 p.m.

Police say Robert Hosking, 85, was struck by a vehicle that was traveling south on Route 110. The driver fled the scene. The car is described as green with damage to the passenger side front end, side view mirror and windshield.

Hosking, of Melville, was transported by Melville Rescue to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he is being treated for internal injuries and multiple fractures, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has information about the crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
