Church Burglarized; 2 Teens, 1 Adult Arrested

Police use canine unit to locate suspects hiding in boat.

Police arrested two teens and one adult for breaking into the  in Huntington Station Tuesday.

Javier Hernandez, 21, of Huntington Station, Edwin Diaz-Hernandez, 16, of Huntington Station and a 15-year-old juvenile were charged with third degree burglary and third degree criminal mischief.

Using a , the subjects were tracked by police from the church for more than a mile to a boat located in the front yard of a house on Brompton Place in Huntington Station at approximately 4:15 a.m., according to police.

A police helicopter was spotted in the air in the area of the church at about 3:30 a.m., according to a news tip from a Patch viewer.

Responding to an alarm, officers say they found broken windows and an open door to the church before discovering damage to the school area and stolen food.

Hernandez and Diaz-Hernandez are being held at the . Arraignment is scheduled at First District Court in Central Islip on Feb 2.

The juvenile was taken to Family Court and charged as a juvenile delinquent, according to police.
