Saving Huntington through government reform.

 

Over the next several weeks I will be elaborating on the following measures that I would hope to implement if elected to the Huntington town board.

A Plan to SaveHuntington Through Government Reform

  1. Term Limits
  2. Annual Performance Audit
  3. End Patronage
  4. Campaign Finance Reform
  5. Ethics Reform
  6. Create a Residents’ Bill of Rights
  7. Creation of a new Town Charter
  8. Create the Office of the Public Advocate
  9. Institute spending caps
  10. Allow the 15 Hamlets of Huntington to represent themselves with regards to zoning
  11. Institute a program of privatization and competition of government services
  12. Create greater transparency through technology
  13. Increase safety and security throughout Huntington via code and budget reforms
  14. Eliminate central planning groups like the Economic Development Corp. and the Community Development Corp. in order to save the taxpayers money
  15. End all housing subsidies and preferential treatment based on income
  16. Rotate town board meetings from school district to school district
  17. Inform the public of all correspondence between government officials and special interest groups

This year’s town board vote is too important to leave to vague promises, overused clichés and gratuitous pandering.  The time is now to get serious about government reform.
