This Weekend: Finnegan's Centennial Celebration; "All Night Strut"

5 things going on this weekend.

1. Long Island Swing Band: The Harborfields Public Library presents "Swinging on Broadway" featuring the Long Island Swing Band. Free swing dance lessons from the Ballroom on the Bay Dance Studio instructors at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m. The Huntington Children's Chorus performs at intermission. Admission is free.

2. Tribute to Clem Derosa: The Summer Arts Festival at Friday features a tribute to Clem DeRosa, who passed away in December of 2011, in Denton, Texas. A veteran band leader with more than 30 performances at the Huntington Summer Arts Festival, Derosa was an internationally respected musician, educator, professional conductor/bandleader, composer, arranger, drummer, and author. His greatest legacy was as one of the pioneers of jazz education. He was perhaps the first public school educator to instill a solid jazz curriculum and teaching method. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. Admission if free.

3. Finnegan's Centennial Celebration: Finnegan's centennial festivities kick off on Friday with the bartenders reunion. More than two dozen former bartenders, some of whom will be flying cross-country for the special event and date back to the 1960s, will return to their previous haunt.  Also on Friday,  34-year-old mural will also be dedicated, weather permitting. The unveiling will take place at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the main event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. on July 28.  Wall Street will be closed from Gerard Street to Main Street in Huntington Village for a street-wide celebration.  Admission is free.

4. Huntington Bicycle Club's 30th Annual Gold Coast Tour: Various bicycle routes wind along the beautiful and historic North Shore’s Gold Coast on Sunday. Enjoy magnificent views of Huntington and Cold Spring Harbors as you ride along the coast and through other beautiful residential communities. Meet at BAE Systems parking lot, located at 450 Pulaski Rd. in Greenlawn at 7 a.m. Runs until 3 p.m. Admission $30. Various routes available. 

5. "All Night Strut": In the Walled Garden at on Sunday, swing's the thing! An international hit, this musical celebration is a slick slice of yesteryear with sublime music. Audience members will hum along with "It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing," "As Time Goes By," "I'll Be Seeing You," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Fascinating Rhythm," and "In the Mood." Please bring your own seating. Admission is free. Show starts at 5 p.m.
