Tri-M Honor Society Welcomes 32 New Members

 

Huntington High School’s chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society inducted 32 new members into the organization during a ceremony that drew a full house to the School Heritage Museum late last week.

The name Tri-M is derived from the honor society’s original name: Modern Music Masters. Prospective members are required to demonstrate scholarship, achievement, leadership and service. Tri-M has traditionally been one of Huntington’s most active and prestigious honor societies.

Tri-M officers Chelsea Holmes (president), Brianna Kirkland (vice-president), Stephanie Shea (secretary), Katherine Gerdes (treasurer) and Sarah Mosden (historian) took looking roles during the induction ceremony. Huntington music teachers Veronica Mainville and Brian Stellato serve as the organization’s faculty advisors.

The latest class of Tri-M members includes Jack Blakley, Zachary Burden, Declan Byrne, Dylan Delgiudice, Nancy Fallon, Jack Gallagher, Holly Grabowski, Kyle Hansen, Kaiya Idler, Melany Lanham-Ciancia, Sam Latt, Olivia Liepa, Jack Malone, Meaghan McArthur, Elisa Medina-Jaudes, Annalise Mozer, Brianne Neira, Ryan Newell, Stephanie Powers, Hallie Raskin, Savannah Richardson, Bailey Riordan, Landary Rivas, Emily Sager, Marina Siegel, Jackson Spector, Jessica Straub, Annie Trousdell, Alex Ulloa, Hanae Wada and Justin Waite.

“Let us remember that we should study the past to effectively plan our future,” Ms. Shea told the new members. “This is a youth organization and with each succeeding year, its membership will be made up of young people such as you. Therefore, our society will never grow old, but will be eternally modern.”

The new inductees join Tri-M chapter 2198’s continuing members, which include Kristin Berner, Megan Boyce, Miranda Cahill, Justin Edgar-McNerney, Kayla Eidle, Jonathan Engle, Marc Feldman, Nina Flores, George Gabriel, Katherine Gerdes, Gabrielle Goodridge, Brian Gilbert, Alexa Gorczycki, Chelsea Holmes, Christian Jamison, Brianna Kirkland, Hannah Maiorello, Brian McConnell, Ashley Melgar, Sarah Mosden, Benjamin Nikodem, Monica Owen, Olivia Palmer, Suzanne Petryk, Matthew Rosenbauer, Amy Schmelter, Stephanie Shea, Michael Stafford, Kara Talve, Brendan Wirth, Margot Yanuck and Samuel Yanuck.

“A member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society is one who sets a good example, is always willing to assist those students who are striving to better themselves in the music department and always remembers that real honor brings responsibility,” Ms. Holmes said.

Sarah Gill, Huntington’s district director of fine and performing arts gave the evening’s keynote address, providing a personal account of the power of music and its ability to change and enhance lives.

The audience was treated to splendid musical performances by Tri-M members Chelsea Holmes, Melany Lanham-Ciancia, Annalise Mozer, Holly Grabowski, Suzanne Petryk, Jonathan Engle, Amy Schmelter, Matthew Rosenbauer, Michael Stafford and Brian McConnell.
