Huntington High School’s Class of 2013 included many talented students among its 301 graduates. Most members of the group will soon be headed off to college with 72 percent destined for four-year universities and another 24 percent planning to attend two-year schools.

With 96 percent of the graduating class going to college, Huntington compares quite favorably with the top districts on Long Island. Four percent of the Class of 2013 intends to enroll in vocational programs, join the military, enter the workforce or engage in a “gap year” or sabbatical between high school and college that typically includes travel, volunteering or even working abroad.

“The statistics speak to the academic achievement and determination of class of 2013 members,” Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “What the numbers don’t show is also worthy of note; the class is composed of fine young adults who have become known for their kindness, compassion and community-mindedness. Their potential is unlimited in all regards.”
