Tom Waldron shot a two-over-par 38 on the front nine of the Huntington Crescent Club to pace the Huntington High School golf team to a 9-0 win over Half Hollow Hills East. Jim Smoot shot a three-over-par 39 for the Blue Devils. The victory improved Huntington’s record to 12-0.

The Huntington High School girls’ soccer team was nipped by Kings Park last Friday, 1-0. The teams were scoreless until about three minutes into the second half. The Blue Devils took five shots in the game. Huntington’s magnificent goalie Taylor Moreno made 13 saves.

Reiver Notches Seventh Shutout

The Huntington High School boys’ soccer team scored three first half goals and went on to top visiting Kings Park, 3-0 in an important Suffolk League IV contest. Goalie Lee Reiver made one save to notch his seventh shutout of the season. Renato Aguilar recorded two saves for the Blue Devils.

Jeremy Gelb, TJ Becker and Anfernee Lopez each scored a goal in the game. Olvin Palma and Wilson Martinez contributed assists. Huntington took 12 shots in the game.

 

H-ton Golf is Unbeatable

The Huntington High School golf team topped previously undefeated Half Hollow Hills West not once, but twice in eight days by identical 7-2 scores. In the first victory, Jim Smoot and Justin LoTurco each shot three-over-par 37 at Cold Spring Hills Country Club to lead the Blue Devils. In the second match between the two teams, Smoot and Charles Bast both shot one-over-par 37 at the Huntington Crescent Club to pace Huntington.

Sandwiched between the two victories over Hills West was a nifty 9-0 win over visiting West Babylon. Smoot and LoTurco each shot a two-over-par 37 on the front nine of the Huntington Crescent Club.

 

Huge Second Half for H-ton Soccer

Following a scoreless first half, the Huntington High School boys’ soccer team exploded for five second half goals en route to a 5-1 victory over League IV foe West Babylon.

The Blue Devils goals were scored by Olvin Palma, Nick Tonks, Ricky Velasquez, Byron Velasquez and TJ Becker. Gerardo Valles, Jeremy Gelb, Josh Canales, Wilson Martinez and Ricky Velasquez contributed assists.

Huntington goalie Lee Reiver stopped three shots before yielding to Renato Aguilar, who recorded one save. The Blue Devils took 14 shots in the game.

 

Healy’s Goal a Game Winner

Megan Healy is enjoying a sensational senior season with the Huntington High School girls’ soccer team. The teenager scored the game-winning goal off a free kick about eight minutes into the second half as the Blue Devils topped host Deer Park, 1-0. Goalie Taylor Moreno had six saves.

 

Another Scoreless Tie

The Huntington High School boys’ soccer team has a formidable defense and an excellent goalie in Lee Reiver. The Blue Devils have notched a string of shutouts this fall and did so again against visiting Deer Park. The trouble is, Huntington was unable to score, too.

The Blue Devils had nine shots on goal, but Deer Park’s Jeremy Friend stopped them all. Reiver had four saves for Huntington.

 

Stafford’s First Varsity Goal

Freshman Camille Stafford scored the first varsity goal of her career with about 6:30 remaining in the game to give the Huntington High School girls’ soccer team a 1-0 victory over visiting West Babylon. Blue Devil sophomore goalie Taylor Moreno recorded a dozen saves and posted her eighth shutout of the season.

 

Four Tough Losses

The Huntington High School boys’ volleyball team lost four tough meets. The Blue Devils dropped three straight games to Sayville, 25-15, 26-24 and 25-13.  West Islip topped Huntington, 25-22, 25-16 and 25-18.  Hauppauge steamed past the Blue Devils, 25-7, 25-9 and 25-11.

Huntington lost a heartbreaking 3-2 match at Shoreham-Wading River. After dropping the first game, 25-19, the Blue Devils won the next two, 25-23 and 26-24 before the Wildcats rallied to win the final two games, 25-17 and 25-22.

 

Hills West Scores on Penalty Kick

Half Hollow Hills West has been in first place all season long and for good reason, the Colts have many talented players. But, the Huntington High School boys’ soccer team turned in a fine performance in a 1-0 loss.

The teams battled it out in a scoreless first half. The game-winning goal came in the 51st minute on a penalty kick. Blue Devil goalie Lee Reiver made eight saves in the game. Huntington managed four shots on goal.

 

Blue Devil Girls’ VB in Close Battles

The Huntington High School girls’ volleyball team was oh-so-close to winning, taking a 2-1 lead at Comsewogue before dropped a 3-2 decision.

The Blue Devils lost the first game, 28-26 and then captured the second and third games by scores of 25-19 and 25-13. The Warriors regained their balance to grab the fourth and fifth games, 25-22 and 25-23.

Huntington dropped three straight games to Harborfields, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23. The match played out in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.

The Blue Devils also lost at home to Rocky Point. The Eagles won the first game, 25-16 before Huntington took the second frame, 25-20. Rocky Point then captured the final two games, 25-18 and 25-23.

 

Smithtown East Overwhelms Blue Devils

The Smithtown East field hockey team overwhelmed the Blue Devils, 5-0. The Bulls led 3-0 at halftime and then scored a pair of goals in the second half to put the game away. Huntington goalies Tara Byrnes and Greta Farrell recorded three saves each. The Blue Devils had three shots in the game.

 

Scoreless Tie on Stormy Day

The Huntington and East Islip girls’ soccer teams combined for 10 shots on a windy and stormy day, but neither squad could put the ball in the net as they had to settle for a scoreless tie at Breezy Park. Blue Devil goalie Taylor Moreno made six saves.

 

Schultz’s Goal is not Enough

The Huntington High School field hockey team dropped a 2-1 verdict to host Comsewogue. Jaclyn Schultz scored for the Blue Devils in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.

Huntington had eight shots in the game. Greta Farrell stopped two shots in the goal for the Blue Devils.
