World Music at Cinema Arts on Father's Day

The world music group Bangalore Breakdown invades the Sky Room Café at the Cinema Arts Centre at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 19.

Performers in this group, which formed in Greenwich Village,  include: Uli Geissendoerfer ( Germany ) - keyboards; Premik Russell Tubbs ( USA ) - saxophones, flutes, wind synth; Gino Sitson (Camaroon) - vocals, body percussion; Mathias Kunzli (Switzerland ) - percussion; Naren Budhakar ( India ) - tablas; Nathan Peck ( USA ) - acoustic & electric basses; and "Ljova" Lev Zhurbin ( Russia ) - viola.

Premik Russell Tubbs and Uli Geissendoerfer co-lead the world/jazz/improvisational ensemble. Tubb describes the music as multi-dimensional and experimental, with expression, improv, rhythm, line, texture, energy, thickness, fluidity, space, and freedom.

“Themes, compositions are created, broken down, melted and cast into new shapes. It is improvisation aside from the stereotypes guided by heart and soul,” says Uli Geissendoerfer.

This show is a part of the Premik Russell Tubbs monthly series introducing new genres of music to the community at Cinema Arts Centre.
