TOPSoccer Season Comes to a Close

TOPSoccer held their final game of the spring season on Whitman’s turf field, and the evening was special in many ways. For those who don’t know about this wonderful team, they are part of the St. Elizabeth CYO Soccer Club, and TOPSoccer is a program designed to meet the needs of children with physical and/or mental disabilities.

This picture perfect Saturday evening had parents, student volunteers, coaches, and players enjoying what has become an increasingly popular team. One of the highlights of this particular Saturday was the awards ceremony, emceed by Coach Ed. To the delight of his audience, Coach Ed Nitkewicz launched into a monologue that had everyone smiling from the inside out and his special players basking in the spotlight.

This year the team will see Coach Ed retire from his TOPSoccer coaching position, but he will continue to keep in regular contact with the program. Ms. Christy Gudaitis is the team’s coordinator and she would like the community to know that TOPSoccer always makes room for more players, so if you think your child would enjoy the camaraderie and fun of this heartwarming program, considers this your invitation to TOPSoccer.
