Affordable Care Act for Individuals & Small Businesses

Website woes and changing deadlines are adding to the stress of making an already complicated decision: Which healthcare plan to choose to best meet my needs? Healthcare navigators from the LaGuardia Community College Division of Adult & Community Education will present the latest developments in the Affordable Care Act for both individuals and small businesses, with a Q&A session to follow. All are invited to attend this free program.

All of the health insurance plans offered in the state of New York must cover certain basic medical needs such as preventative care, hospital stays, emergency care, prescription drugs, and pediatric dental and vision care.  It’s up to you as an individual, sole proprietor, or small business owner to decide what, if any, additional benefits to add to the basic coverage. Once you’ve selected your plan, then there’s the question of paying for your new coverage and determining your eligibility for tax credits.  These are complex decisions and it’s important to get them right.

Janice Kavanagh and Danilo Djuretic, trained navigators in LaGuardia Community College’s Small Business Assistance Program, will discuss the latest developments in the Affordable Care Act for both individuals and small business owners. They will provide current information to answer your questions and empower you to make informed decisions about the healthcare coverage that is right for you or your business.  Ms. Kavanagh and Mr. Djuretic will be available after the lecture to answer your specific questions.  The general public is invited to attend this free program.
