Photos: Huntington Digs Out of Snow

Though winds remain strong and driving can be hazardous, the storm is fading away.

Though the Long Island Rail Road continues to struggle with track problems, Huntington slowly began returning to normal Monday afternoon after Sunday's blizzard.

Youngsters could be seen carrying shovels, with a handful playing in the snow, though the cold wind seemed to dampen too much outdoor fun, while homeowners or contractors were busy clearing driveways and parking spaces. Many pedestrians downtown were walking in the streets where sidewalks hadn't been cleared.

Many roads were clear or nearly so, though plenty of side streets remained hazardous. and even seemingly cleared streets often turned slippery.  Several cars seemed to have become favorite dumping grounds for plows, nearly completely buried in snow.
