Gun Debate Returns to Huntington

Update: Opposing sides to rally on different days.

The gun debate will return to Huntington Station Saturday with groups representing diametrically opposed views but on different days.

Gun advocates are planning to demonstrate at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Route 110, site of the large pro-gun rally on Jan. 19 that filled all four corners and spilled alongside the roadways in all directions. They are scheduled to demonstrate from noon to 3 p.m. in what the Conservative Society for Action called a Nationwide Day Of Resistance.

Meantime, a group organized by Long Island Moveon.org moved its rally for gun regulations, such as a ban on assault weapons and for more background checks, to Sunday but on the same turf. It cited Saturday's forecast for heavy rains for the postponement.

Moveon said its rally would run from 2 to 4 p.m., and listed both the intersection and 30 West Jericho, just east of Route 110, as the site.
