Cooper's Office Moves

Legislative leader sets up shop at Vanderbilt because of downtown building fire.

Suffolk Legislator Jon Cooper is relocating to the Vanderbilt estate because of a fire that closed his Gerard Street office two weeks ago.

The Huntington leader of the Democratic majority said that he has temporarily moved his office into the curator's cottage on the grounds of the estate in Centerport.

The office phone number (631-854-4500) and email address (jon.cooper@suffolkcountyny.gov)  remain the same.  To send regular mail, the address is  178 Little Neck Road, Centerport, 11721.

"While I know this site is not as centrally located as was my previous office in downtown Huntington Village, I hope that by coming to visit me in my new location, you will discover all the wonderful attractions the Vanderbilt has to offer," Cooper said.

The Vanderbilt Museum on the grounds has been struggling financially and recently appointed a new director to find solutions for the Suffolk County site to continue.
