Budget Explanations and Fashion Shows

Shea to discuss aid and tax caps; 2 districts to put on a show.

A roundup of some PTA activities in the coming weeks.

School finances: South Huntington superintendent of schools Dr. or others from the district administration willl be attending South Huntington PTA meetings to explain the implications of proposed state aid cuts and an expected property tax cap. All residents of the district, whether they have children or not, are encouraged to attend one of these meetings.

  • Wednesday, March 2 at 7:30 - Board of Ed meeting/Budget Overview at District Office
  • Thursday, March 10 at 7:30 pm - Birchwood PTA Meeting at Birchwood

Fashion shows: The PTA's in both South Huntington and Huntington are planning fashion shows as fundraisers.

The PTA's of and and are collaborating on a fashion show and dinner March 30 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at in Halesite.

The evening will feature faculty and support staff members modeling exclusive fashions from Marshs of Huntington. There will be dinner and dancing as DJ Rich Signorelli spins the tunes. Tickets are on sale for $40.

In South Huntington, the group's biggest fundraiser of the year is set for Friday April 1 at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds support cultural arts programs and scholarships.  Juniors and seniors model clothing from local stores and baskets are raffled with various items and services donated by local businesses and individuals.  The show is set for Whitman High School.

About the council: Huntington PTA Council meetings are held once a month (usually the first Tuesday of the month) in the School Heritage Museum (room 140) at . Meetings typically feature guest speakers. The PTA Council consists of representatives from each school building as well as SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teachers Association). The council provides information, shares ideas and provides feedback to its members.
