4. If you're not interested in Friday's Halloween festivities, go to the Huntington Library at 7 p.m. and learn about the Haunted Hotels of the Catskills. The grand hotels of yesteryear hold a certain fascination for many. Perched high atop the cliffs, overlooking the river and glacial lakes, some had as many as 800 rooms. Preservationist, author and photographer Monica Randall will show a slide presentation about the rich, the middle class, the gangsters and bootleggers who stayed there.

  5. Oh no! Haunted Hotels don't fascinate you? Book Revue is the place for you! Eight time Winter Olympic medalist Apolo Ohno will speak about and sign his new book, Zero Regrets, at 7 p.m. Letters for the signing portion of this event will be handed out beginning at 5 p.m. For more information, please call 631-271-1442. If you miss this author to go to the Ha-Ha Halloween Showcase or the Halloween Costume party, have no regrets, Ohno will forgive you!
