Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Honored Today
Today we honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his leadership and dedication to the nation’s civil rights movement. His effort to end discrimination, through rallies, sit-ins, the Freedom Rides, voter registration drives and the 1963 March on Washington, left a lasting impact on our nation today. Dr. King’s message of non-violence, unity and equality resonated across the world and earned him the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1964. Today we join together as a nation to celebrate the life and work of Dr. King and we build upon his message of peace for all in the years to come.
