Lupinacci Shares Joy Of Reading As Part Of Reach Out and Read Program

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) yesterday joined Reach Out and Read of Greater New York as part of Early Literacy Awareness Week, reading to students at the Dolan Family Health Center in Huntington Station. The week is intended to inspire families to foster a love of reading in our youngest children and prepare them for success in school.

“Inspiring a passion for reading in a young child can help set them on a path to years of success and possibility,” said Lupinacci. “Reading helps children do better in school, expands their horizons and opens doors to all kinds of knowledge. I hope the kids who attended the Reach Out and Read event today will go forward and explore all the different worlds that you find when you open up a book.”

As part of Reach Out and Read’s Early Literacy Awareness Week, patients at hospitals and health centers throughout New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley enjoyed various well-loved children’s books. The week will conclude with a distribution of over 20,000 children’s books to Reach Out and Read program locations. Children who visit these clinics receive a free book to keep, and their families receive counseling about how to use books to improve language and early literacy development so that children start school ready to learn.
