Urban Outfitters is coming the Walt Whitman Shops, another new store in the reshaping of the mall's lineup.

The new store is expected to open in August. The  7,892-square-foot store will be the first Urban Outfitters location in the area.

"We are very excited to bring Urban Outfitters to Huntington Station,” said Sandra Martinez, District Manager, Urban Outfitters. “The new store is near the Long Island University campus, which is the perfect location for UO. We are looking forward to being a part of the community.”

The store said the new site would offer such distinctive architectural structures as exposed steel, fitting rooms with scaffolding elements and a suspended staircase, and will include multiple levels, with both mall and street entrances.

The Huntington Station store will carry a full assortment of Urban Outfitters merchandise including clothing and accessories for both men and women, home, music and lifestyle product.

The store’s hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.and Sunday from 11 a.m.to 7 p.m.

Sandra Martinez, District Manager, Urban Outfitters, obviously has no idea where "Long Island University" is in relation to Huntington Station. She must go around to stores nationwide and just add the name of the city plus "University" and assume she's getting it right. Everyone calls it CW Post, and Roosevelt Field Mall is much, much closer than Huntington Station to that university. This just shows how UNinterested Urban Outfitters is about the communities where their stores are situated.

Another store that does not fit the demographic of the area. Does anyone think all these high end stores are going to survive.

I hope the wealthiest citizens of Huntington are ready and willing to spend tons of money at the new stores in the new mall. Certainly the majority of us will not have the same capacity. All you have to do is look around Huntington and see all the empty storefronts to know things aren't as peachy as companies like UO want us to think. I guess the rest of us will shop at Targets.

Please tell Ms. Martinez that Simon Malls is gaining a nationwide reputation as supporting puppy mills and their related animal cruelty. This is not just a few nuts mad about Smith Haven's debacle, it is national. We refuse to patronize any Simon property until the retail pet stores selling puppies and kittens are no longer allowed space in their malls. There is a growing backlash against this vile practice. It is not business, it is USDA-licensed, AKC-supported animal cruelty for profit. No better, yet less honest, than dog fighting.

CW Post is 12.2 miles from Whitman Mall. Don't expect to see much green and gold in your store...

Perhaps she was referring to SUNY Farmingdale?

Maybe, ED...though that is not "Long Island University".
