[POLL] Best Catered Food in Huntington

Memorial Day weekend is about tangy backyard barbecue and sweet cole slaw. But what if you can’t make it all? We want your pick for catered food joint.

Sides of mac and cheese, potato salad and cole slaw go great with any family get together. So do trays of penne alongside sausage and peppers. That’s a Long Island feast done Italian-style.

Whatever your preference, Memorial Day weekend is all about backyard gatherings of friends and family. But whether you fire up the Weber grill or channel your inner Martha Stewart, preparing the entire banquet may be too much to handle.

You’re in luck. Quality caterers abound, from the local meat market and deli to the neighborhood restaurant or grocery store.

Time to weigh in. Huntington Patch is looking for the best catered food in town. Readers’ Choice is a new weekly feature where we ask you – our readers – to tell us your top picks.

Each Monday we’ll list our nominees – this week it’s catered food – and ask for your recommendation. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

Then vote. Readers' Choice winners are all up to you, so it's important not only to vote below, but also be sure to share this contest with your friends on Facebook and Twitter! Voting closes Friday at 9 a.m.

Friday we’ll announce our winner.

Our nominees:

  • Oheka Castle Caterers

  • Just Fabulous
  • Southdown Marketplace
  • Viajo's Restaurant
  • The Harbor Club

Rich Jacques (Editor) May 14, 2012 at 04:31 PM
How's the catering at Caruso's?
Matt Fisher May 14, 2012 at 04:41 PM
Not a chance. I'd take Mr. Sausage over Caruso's any day
Joe L May 14, 2012 at 06:13 PM
Porco's is no longer called Porco's.

I agree with Christina....Mr Sausage uses wayyyyyy too much salt in their food...however, with all due respect, I do like the homemade pasta from Mr Sausage. Caruso's has the best homemade chicken burgers you will EVER find as well as other prepared foods...prices are much better too ! Just My opinion :)
kate May 15, 2012 at 02:22 PM
@ stan: They have been catering for some time through word of mouth..they now are opening the store !
Billy C May 16, 2012 at 01:25 PM
Mr. Sausage all about it
Stephen E May 16, 2012 at 01:56 PM
Caruso's is a FRAUD! They learned everything they know from Mr. Sausage.

There's a reason Billy Joel only goes to Mr. Sausage
Andrea May 16, 2012 at 02:40 PM
Mr. Sausage, hands down. Though Caruso's does have some great chicken burgers... And both places will make most of their food gluten-free if you give enough advance notice!
Andrea May 16, 2012 at 02:42 PM
How can this be an option? Where they somewhere else before? Last I checked they were still not open in Huntington.
Lauren Leigh May 16, 2012 at 02:51 PM
Mr sausage!!
Stephen E May 16, 2012 at 03:19 PM
Mr. Sausage actually makes a lot of delicious gluten-free choices daily... no advance notice needed!
Monica Marietta May 16, 2012 at 07:49 PM
Culinary Studio! Delicious food. Not your typical picnic fare. Everything is tasty. You can get a wonderful catered meal, or go in for your own special take-out. I recommend them highly.

Listen! If it wasn't for Caruso's or Mr. Sausage or A&S Pork Store you people wouldn't even know what Italian food is. These people work hard and do what they know best and that's great food. So please show a little respect. Then again who ever nominated those other places to begin with should'nt be writing for Patch.
Andrea May 17, 2012 at 01:34 PM
#1 is probably whoever the people on this site are picking as having the best food... it has nothing to do with history. Or all this annoying Mr. Sausage vs. Caruso's drama that is now filling up my inbox due to replies on this page. Perhaps we can go back to using the page as intended - to discuss/ vote for the best food as per the customers of Huntington!

I would just like to take the time to take all our supporters. some of these comments have disgusted me throughout these couple days, really how old are we people? Especially those of you who are not even involved in the family or hear things to word-of-mouth really have no idea any clue what happened to family basically family stay with the family and things you will never know you will never know. it's easy to hear one side of the story not all the facts, all my family can do is look at this and laugh at these false accusations...so I believe it's time to grow up stop posting these immature and false accusations, You know who you are. thank you very much Baldanza family.
